About our Society

The Society was founded to preserve the heritage of the village of Maulden and the surrounding area. We are building, together with St. Mary’s Church, a permanent local history archive to be maintained for future generations.

The Society holds regular meetings, usually on the last Thursday of the month, with guest speakers and provides a social gathering of people interested in their local history. Each summer we try to organise outside visits with expert guidance.

In addition, the Society, together with St. Mary’s Church, is responsible for opening the Ailesbury Mausoleum and Crypt to the public  annually. Arrangements may be made for private visits of twelve or more persons.

Membership of the Society costs £15 annually which includes free admittance to all meetings. Occasionally a surcharge may be required for outside visits. Visitors are very welcome and may pay the Visitor’s fee of £3. Visitors are limited to 3 visits in one year.

All meetings take place in the Church Hall, Church Road, Maulden MK45 2AU
